The Engage teams in Burkina Faso and Cambodia are settling in well!
Jayne, on the Burkina Faso team, gives us a taste of their trip so far:
Well this is day 6 (5th full day) and our last of orientation in Ouaga. It’s pretty warm and there are geckos in abundance! We’ve been pretty busy since arrival: had a couple of Jula lessons, been to the market, bought some fabric and taken it to the tailor, done some laudry today (though the water ran out before we finished – argh!), been for a drive around town and to lunch with one or two people. Yesterday we went to the international church in Ouaga which was in English and translated to French – nice hear what things are in French and still understand everything going on!
We’re having a fantastic time and learning so much – thank you all for your prayers and keep praying, especially as we head to Diebougou tomorrow where things will be a bit more difficult as fewer people speak French and it is a much smaller place.
The Cambodia team have recovered from their long journey and jetlag (Cambodia is ahead of us in the UK by 6 hours). Team leader Geoff sent the following update this morning:
Sunday was great at an island church… Things seem to be going well… The itinerary so far has worked well, good input from the SIL folks here… Looking forward to the Bible Society visit this morning and some more language training this afternoon.
You can follow the teams’ live updates on Twitter at http://twitter.com/engagebf09 and http://twitter.com/engagecmb09.
Please keep these teams in your prayers, and the Cameroon team as they prepare to head off on 31 July.
