Korean churches supporting Bible translation

Pray for opportunities to report the exciting news about Bible translation among the churches in Korea, and to challenge many more young people to dedicate their lives to the work. GBT’s* faith goal is that, by 2025, some of the 58,000 churches will commit themselves to supporting 300 new language projects.

Push to complete the Domani OT

Now the Domani translators are working hard to complete the OT by October 2010. They have also committed themselves to start translating the Bible into two more languages spoken in the country. “I am the Beginning and the End.” (Rev 21:6)

Bible Published in West Asia

The first Bible produced with help from GBT* (North Domani) has been published in West Asia. Pray that God will open doors for distribution. “What he opens no-one can shut.” (Rev 3:7) Pray that believers in the homeland and in other countries will be strengthened.

Distribution of New Testament despite restrictions

The 12th New Testament that GBT* members have helped to translate has been launched in the UK by Christians from the same part of Asia. Christians in the South Domani homeland face many restrictions. Pray for widespread distribution through internet downloads, as well as print copies where possible. Now that a significant part of God’s word is available, pray that people will be drawn to the truth, edified and encouraged.

Training, Students and Staff

Chung Je-soon writes, “GBT* always need three things from the Lord: wisdom to run a training programme that is relevant to the needs of Asians; the right students with the vision and the spiritual and mental qualities for this work; and enough staff with the technical knowledge and the ability to relate to students on their level. Whenever you think of us, please pray for these things.”

Linguistics training in Korea

Stephen Levinsohn is leading two linguistics courses at Handong (Christian) University, Korea, from 5 April to 20 May, assisted by Dr Kim Dae-won, a very gifted man with experience in Bible translation. “Although the students are not being taught in their own language, pray that they will grasp the concepts clearly and be able to relate them to the task of Bible translation.”

Praise God for 17 people who joined GBT* in 2009! In February, 30 GBT members completed their training. Some are seeking God’s leading and provision for future service overseas, while others will start their training in March.
