What are Engage teams all about?
“Trips like these can change your life, and for me that was totally the case! It’s an experience that will stay with me forever and has massively impacted my view on the wider world and on what it’s like to be a Christian outside the western world.”
- Ben,
Engage Cameroon 2009
That’s what it’s all about – experiencing what God is doing around the world through Bible translation… and giving you an opportunity to LIVE and GIVE God’s Story.
To get a flavour of what Engage teams are like take a look at a video made by Mark who led the Engage Burkina Faso 2009 team.
Engage 2010 teams:
- Cambodia (July) in partnership with Cambodia Action
This team of five people will have an opportunity to learn about the rapid growth of the church in Cambodia, see how different ministries are working in partnership throughout the country including Bible translation, and get the chance to do some youth and children’s work.
This team will be doing a lot of travelling in Cambodia, so please pray for safety for them, and that they will be able to grasp and participate in what God is doing in this country in healing the wounds of it’s traumatic history.

- Indonesia (July)
This is the first time a Wycliffe Engage team will visit Kalimantan (Borneo). Five people are going to experience life among the Dayak people, do some language learning, and see how an Indonesian Wycliffe organisation is helping train and equip the local church through literacy, providing training and materials for Sunday Schools, discipleship and Bible translation.
Please pray especially for good communication (English is not widely spoken) as the team encourages and learns from the local community.

- Cameroon (August)
This year another six people will be going to the Ndop language project. They will learn to live and work within a village community, building relationships, listening to people’s stories and learning some of their language and culture as well as contributing to the work of Bible translation and literacy through children’s ministry.
Pray that this team will effectively build on the work of previous teams, especially as they expand the work into different churches in a wider area.
