‘For to us a child is born, to us a son is given’ (Isaiah 9:6)

I’m sure you love hearing these words read at Christmas carol services. They promised a Messiah to the people of Israel, 700 years before Christ’s birth. This promise is for you and me. This promise is for all people, everywhere.

And yet, as much as we love this verse, the injustice is that for too many people who are craving for the Bible, these words are just out of reach.

But you can help change that.

Because right now, you and I have an amazing opportunity. Your gift will be doubled – having twice as much impact – as long as it arrives by 24 December.

That means that every £1 you can give before Christmas will be doubled to help Bible translators unlock God’s word for their people.

Thanks to supporters like you, historic progress is being made. Yet, 1 in 5 people worldwide are still waiting for the Bible in their language.

Any gift you can give will be doubled to translate the Bible for people like Pastor Borath.

As a child growing up in Cambodia, Borath didn’t hear much about Jesus, however today he leads a small but growing church for Bunong people.

Pastor Borath is a faithful preacher, but only has part of the Bible to preach from: the rest is trapped in a language he and his church can’t understand.

‘When I read the Bible in Khmer [the national language], there are some words I don’t understand,’ Borath says. ‘And if I don’t understand what it says, I can’t understand what God is saying to me or to the people I lead.’

Without the full Bible in their language, Borath and the Bunong people are like people eating soup with a fork. They have part of the message, but can’t see the whole thing. They long for the day when they have access to the Bible in their language for the first time.

‘My hope for my children and for the generations to come, is that they will read the Bible in Bunong,’ he says.

You can help make that happen.

With every passing day, more children grow up without the chance to read God’s word in their own language. How much longer should they wait?

That’s why, in 2025, we want to support more Bible translators to bring God’s word to over 100 million people.

But we need your help to achieve this.

The next step is to raise £700,000 – our most ambitious target ever. To help make this possible, a group of Wycliffe supporters is offering to double any donation you give before Christmas, until we reach that target together.

This means your gift of:

  • £50 becomes £100
  • £100 becomes £200

Please consider a gift today – which will be doubled – to support Bible translators as they dedicate their lives to making an eternal impact and leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.
