Whatever your fundraising idea, you can use your creativity, energy and talents to fundraise effectively for us.

Below are three sections to give you ideas and inspiration:

  1. Some fundraising ideas
  2. Enhance your fundraising with resources
  3. Create your own fundraising pages

1. Some fundraising ideas

Here are some ideas you might wish to use to create your fundraising activity:

  • Write for the Word – do you want to enhance your Bible knowledge, while also supporting Bible translation? Why not write for the word, by sponsored-writing out the full gospel of Mark by hand! It will bless you daily, while also helping so many others – and creating a great keepsake for you to pass on to others when you’re done!
  • Bake for the Word use those great baking skills by running a bake sale at your church, to raise funds. Maybe ask people to eat a piece of cake which is missing some essential ingredients to illustrate what it can feel like to live without the full Bible in your language!
  • Waddle for the Word – how about an activity for your toddler group? You could invite parents to fundraise with their tots and waddle a few laps around your church, or a local play park in aid of those still to receive God’s word in their own language.
  • Ride for the Word – over 65? Why not challenge yourself, or your friends, to use your bus passes to travel to somewhere obscure in aid of the 1 in 5 people still to receive God’s word in their own language?
  • Paint for the Word – are you creative? This challenge has two parts: (1) Get some mini-canvases and invite friends to a creative painting session putting Bible verses into art, highlighting the cause of those still without God’s word. (2) To follow up, you could raise funds by giving away your art as part of an outreach activity or run an art sale in your church, receiving donations as you go.
  • ‘Go extreme’ for the Word – adrenaline-fuelled challenges are a great way to inspire people to support the lasting impact of bringing God’s word to others. Are you up for it? Why not run a half-marathon, tackle the Three Peaks Challenge, bungee jump or even skydive for Wycliffe? You know the saying: ‘If you’re not living life on the edge, you’re taking up too much room!’
  • Dance for the Word – if you enjoy getting people together, how about hosting a barn dance, a ceilidh or a dance-off? Great for all ages! You could raise money as you go, highlighting the needs of the millions who are still missing out on God’s life-changing words – all while watching your pastor attempting to beat one of your youth at a dance-off!
  • Go shoeless for the Word – ‘Your word is a lamp unto my feet’ (Psalm 119:105). Challenge yourself to a day without wearing shoes. You may look strange around the office, but what a great way to highlight what it feels like to be missing out on something as important as God’s word from your life, while also raising funds to support such an important cause.
  • Your own idea… for the word? – don’t stop there! If you have a better fundraising idea, we would love to hear it. Get in touch and let us know. Get in touch with us here

2. Enhance your fundraising with resources

Include stories and videos in your fundraising event!

Our prayer is that every person will experience the life-changing power of God’s word, fostering vibrant communities of faith and thriving churches across generations.

We would love you to share effectively about this with others while you raise funds for Wycliffe’s work.
