When people have the Bible in the language which speaks to them best, individuals and whole churches grow in faith and begin to know Jesus better.

Having the Bible in the language and translation which speaks to people best is essential for evangelism, discipleship, and church growth. Jesus told his followers to take the gospel to all the world, but there are still thousands of communities without God’s word in their own languages. Today, 1 in 5 people don’t have the Bible in their language.

History shows that there has never been a strong local church without the translated Bible being used by local leaders. That’s why at Wycliffe we serve local partners worldwide as they bring God’s word to their communities in the language which speaks to them best.

Other mission agencies depend on the foundational work of Bible translation in order to do their work. Indeed, it was other mission agencies that came together almost 70 years ago to found Wycliffe in order to address this fundamental need in world mission.
